One by one, they found a place to call home. One with an older, married sibling. Another now old enough to live with mentoring roommates. A few more with loving, local families.
And this summer, we officially closed our Grace Home!
For years we loved and nurtured these kids who came to us from abusive homes. We laughed and cried with them.
We thought that was enough.
Over time, we’ve come to fully understand why children need real families, and why no institution can ever provide all that a healthy family can. Why no staff person can take the place of a real mom and dad.
While our emergency shelter still has a critical role in providing immediate safety for victims of abuse or trafficking, we are committed to seeing each life restored and placed with a healthy family to prevent further trauma.
We’re so excited for these kids who have been embraced by family, and we’re not stopping!
Stay tuned this month to find out how we’re transforming Compasio to reach more children with the good news of family!
